M. GEMI Felize Review

A few weeks ago I shared that M. Gemi has started shipping to Canada. I was so excited that I didn’t waste any time making an order. I wanted to order a shoe that was a classic and not something too trendy. I wanted something I would get plenty of wear out of which means I stayed away from the too high heels. I chose to go with the Felize Loafer to start in a bold color suede. My M. Gemi Felize review will share my thoughts on fit, comfort and the whole ordering process.

M. Gemi Felize Review

The M. Gemi Felize is a traditional driving moccasin. The shape is similar to a loafer but really it is a great dupe for the Todds driving loafer but at about half the price. The Felize comes in leather and suede and even a mule option. The suede which I chose comes in 15 different colours.

Like all M. Gemi shoes these are made in Italy and are hand stitched. Just like Todds these have the rubber peg sole.

M. Gemi Felize Fit

M. Gemi states on their website that the fit is snug at first and after a few wears they mold to your foot. I whole heartedly agree with this assessment. I used the fit finder to get the recommended size. After answering what size I usually wear, whether I have a narrow or wide foot and if I sometimes go larger or smaller I was recommended a size 39. This is consistent with the size I wear in Everlane shoes which are also Italian made and fit narrow. The 39 was snug at first across the widest part of my foot. However I did not experience any blistering even after going for a walk on my lunch hour in the first week of wear. I can’t say the same with any other shoe I own.

The Santa Croce suede is soft and supple. The colour I chose is Magenta and it is vibrant.

I had never worn a shoe with a rubber peg sole. The first day was the most awkward. I felt a bit teetery. But the more I walked on them the more normal they felt. Also they seemed to mellow out a bit with wear, likely due to bearing my weight. I do love these for driving. They don’t slip around like leather soles. The rubber soles also provide cushioning which is great for the feet.

Overall I find these shoes very comfortable. I have had zero blistering only some snugness across the widest part of my foot. Even the foot that has a bunion didn’t have blistering, although the shoe did fit tighter there.

Ordering M. Gemi from Canada

Ordering M. Gemi from Canada is very easy. The prices are in Canadian dollars plus the duties and taxes are charged at checkout. Personally I prefer this especially for an order that I know is not going to sneak through customs undetected. Shipping is free which is fantastic. Many US retailers don’t offer this to Canadians so free shipping is refreshing. The order was shipping really fast (next day) and I received it within one week of ordering.

Overall I am incredibly impressed with these shoes. I can’t help but compare them to Everlane and I feel like these are a better fit with less break in period than any of the Everlane flats I have tried. Even the Modern Loafer has given me blisters on longer walks (great for the office though) whereas the Felize fit more like slippers I have owned for years. I greatly prefer these to the Day Glove. I think I will give up Everlane flats as I greatly prefer their boot styles as I mentioned in this post.

Also, I like that M. Gemi is not afraid of colour. Everlane tends to be minamalistic and their colour pallet reflects that with mostly neutral and muted colour options. M. Gemi is much more feminine in their shoe styles and doesn’t shy away from these brighter fun colours. I shouldn’t really compare the two companies on the basis of a pair of shoes that is a totally different style but I can see M. Gemi getting a bit more action thanks the comfort that the Felize offers. I hope that the Stellato is just as comfortable as I think I will order that style next.
