This is the time of year that I love adding little touches of Christmas to my outfit. It goes without saying that a loud ugly Christmas sweater can instantly get you in the Christmas spirit. But not every even is appropriate to wear a crazy Christmas sweater. And not all of us want to wear one! I have narrowed it down to 5 ways to add Christmas to your outfit so that you can get in the spirit of the season just with your clothing.
5 Ways to Add Christmas to your outfit
Wear red
Adding something red to an outfit instantly makes it feel more festive. I have a few red sweaters that I pull out every Holiday season. A red scarf added to a coat is also a great way to add some Christmas cheer to your outerwear.
Wear Plaid
Wearing something plaid, especially plaids with white, red and green is a great way to make your look more festive. Skinny plaid pants with a black sweater is very preppy Christmas. Stewart Plaid is a great option as well as Black watch plaid.
Christmas Colourblock
Not into plaid and want to go a step beyond just pulling on a red sweater? Try a Christmas colourblock instead. This means you could pair your red sweater with some green pants and a white coat. Or add a green scarf to your outfit. I like using Christmas colourblock as a way to get in the spirit any day of the week leading up to the 25th.
Wear Texture
This time of year is great for adding velvet to an outfit. Or even a fluffy sweater. I find these textures add a luxurious element to an outfit and they are warm. Pair velvet trousers with a fluffy red sweater and some sparkly shoes or earrings and you have a warm but fancy festive outfit.
Wear sparkle
This is definitely the time of year to pull out your sequins. Whether it is wearing sequin pants or a skirt these types of pieces are great for a holiday party. There aren’t many times when you can get away with wearing lots of sparkle but the Holiday season is one where you know that all over sequins works.
What is your favourite way to hadd some Christmas to your outfit?
