It seems I do this every year.
In August magazines, which hit the shelves in July, we are bombarded by images of the new fall trends. These trends are reinforced in the massive September issues.
Ever time when the temperature cools just a bit I start hunting out these trends. I wonder, as I wander the malls and boutiques, why I am not seeing what I saw in the magazines.
There are usually a few stores that have the must have styles between September and October. Take this years trends the cape and camel. Few stores that are accessible to the average shopper had these trends front and center. And those that did had, shall I say poor interpretations of the coveted runway styles.
Now as November approaches I see these trends everywhere from fast fashion houses like Zara and H&M to department stores like The Bay and Holt Renfrew.
I am not sure why I haven’t learned my lesson yet. That the closer we get to the actual winter season the more likely I am to find that fall/winter trend I am looking for; instead I jump at my first available option.
Sometimes it works out for the best. Other times I regret what I bought wanting the better version that came along further into the season.
Maybe next year I will have the patience to wait it out and find the best version of the seasons must haves.
