Anyone who is a kid of the 80’s and 90’s likely had a Mom with a Linda Lundstom coat. Both my Mom and my Aunt rocked a Linda Lundstrom LaParka.
So I was looking forward to seeing how the brand had evolved from their eponymous winter coats into a full womanswear line.
The majority of the collection was in shades of grey. It was styled very lady like and demure but there were so many pieces that would easily work with an edgier wardrobe if you pull the pieces you like out of the collection.
The only colour that was scattered throughout the collection was mauve. To be honest it kind of reinforces the well dressed older lady vibe that the collection gave off. Still I thought the collection was gorgeous and spoke to their target market while still having wearable clothing for all generations.
Melissa Nepton’s collection was shown on Day 3 and had a totally different vibe. Much more modern and flowing.
I loved all the chunky knits shown at the beginning and near the end of the show. To me these were the easiest to wear right off the runway.
Other phases of the collection included these silky jumpsuits that no one without the body of a model could wear. Hopefully when these are made into ready to wear pieces they will end up as silk blouses as I am not sure that most women will be lining up to buy the jumpsuits.
There was also leather scattered throughout in accents like leather sleeves or leather shifts.
I had so much fun attending World Mastercard Fashion Week and I hope that I have time to do it again in the fall. And that I will be more rested to make it to more shows!
