Everlane Wedge Sandal Review

As you know I review quite a few pairs of Everlane shoes, ever since this post back in 2015. From time to time Everlane sends me things to try and I was really pumped to try out the Day Wedge because I loved the look of the shoe. The curved leather across the top of the foot looked gorgeous and I figured the apricot colour would be a fun spin on a neutral wear with everything shoe. Unfortunately this wedge sandal from Everlane didn’t love me back the same way. I will share why in the Everlane Wedge Sandal review below. Note I was gifted a pair of sandals to share with all of you, however all opinions are my own.

Everlane Wedge Sandal Review:

When I first saw these wedge sandals from Everlane I was smitten. I really like the style of the swoop from the inner foot to the outer foot. I liked that the colour wasn’t exactly a neutral but should go with most things I had in my wardrobe for spring summer. Even though a wedge heel goes in and out of fashion I thought it would be a practical item especially for the office. The buttery soft leather is also gorgeous.

I was sent these shoes in my usual Everlane size of 8.5. I can pretty much guarantee that this size will fit me in Everlane shoes. There have been a few that didn’t work; the Modern Babo was too big while the Bridge slide sandal from last year was too small.

You might be able to tell from the pictures above that my foot is simply too wide for this shoe. I am ok with having to break a shoe in due to some snugness but when your foot can’t slide into the shoe properly we have a problem.

This shoe is designed for narrow feet. My feet, not so much. The reason you can’t see my toes is because my foot won’t actually go any further down into the shoe. Also there is stitching across the seems of the upper part of the shoe. This makes trying to stuff my foot in further too painful to actually break the shoe in further.

Now I haven’t tried to stretch the shoe, which is an option since the leather is soft and should be pliable for stretching. However I did get my daughter to try the shoes on as well as a comparison. She is only 10 however her feet are long and narrow. They are a similar length to mine but much narrower. She had no problem walking around in the Everlane wedge. It was also much more flattering on her foot.

So right now Everlane has their choose what you pay sale going on. The wedge sandal is included in this sale in both colours. Likely for all the reasons I have listed. If you have narrow feet I encourage you to try this style out. If however you are like me and have wider feet please try a different style. I had luck with the two strap sandal instead.
