It took me a long time to get a skin care routine that really worked for my skin. I used to use moiturizers that were too clogging. And cleansers that didn’t really do much of anything at all. Now I have a system that works so that most of the time I have clear skin, soft skin.
My skin is olive toned and tends to be in the normal to oily range. I still get hormonal breakouts. Stress doesn’t help either but I think that goes for everyone. I usually go for clay masks over moisture just to pull out impurities and mattify my skin. I will share what works for me and maybe you will find some new products you will like too.
Cleansers
ExfoliKate – this is my every morning type of cleanser. I like the light fruit smell and it takes my skin from feeling a bit oily in the morning to clean and clear. I buy this in the value size because I know I am going to use loads of it.
Eradikate – I use this cleanser at night or when I am going to do a mask. Not as nice of smelling but definitely works to clear skin.
Jelly Cleanser – I use this cleanser when I am doing a double cleanse. This would be the first cleanser that takes off makeup.
Cleansing Balm – Again this would be a first step in a double cleanse. It is oilier than the jelly cleanser but works well to get make up off. I think I prefer this one to the Jelly Cleanser.
Serums
Vitamin C – This is my holy grail product. When I stop using it my skin freaks out. I have tried other versions but they don’t stack up. Yes it has a burnt orange juice smell that you have to get used to. I don’t even notice it anymore.
Glycolic Night Serum – I don’t use this one as much as the Vitamin C but if I do a double cleanse at night (which I do when I wear makeup) this is one of the steps. I also use it for my daughters tween skin if she has a breakout.
Moisturizers
Water Cream – This cream is my favourite. It is hydrating without being thick. And it doesn’t clog your pores. I have recommended it to others and they rave about it too. This is just as good and less expensive but it doesn’t feel as luxurious.
Ultra Repair Cream – This is my go to hand cream. But it is also gentle enough that if I need extra moisture I can use it on my face as well.
Brazillian Kiss – I have tried the Agave lip balm but I actually prefer this one. If you want something intense for over night try this.
Overnight cream – I am pretty terrible about having a night time routine. Mostly because I don’t wear makeup every day. But when I do go through the whole night time routine I like something a bit thicker when it comes to moisture. This and this are my go to right now. But I also reordered this as I LOVE it for overnight.
Masks
Umbrian Clay – this is a deep cleansing mask. Minimizes pores while clarifying the skin.
Charcoal Mask – Similar to the last one, deep cleans, minimizes pores and pulls toxins out of the skin.
Rose Clay mask – Draws out impurities and retexturizes the skin. This one has the best reviews and I can agree it is close to my fave. I actually like this one better but they provide similar results.
If I was going to try some new products instead of just stocking up on old favourites I was thinking about trying this or this.
