Sezane came out with some weekender and heavy duty tote bags earlier this year. I am not sure why I thought I needed one except that I love the colour and the contrast lining. I am a bit of a sucker for a great tote bag. But I also fall prey to buying more to get free shipping. It does seem like Sezane has already redesigned this bag but it is still available so I thought I would review it. This is the Sezane Maxi Tote Bag Review which is very similar to the Sezane Weekender Tote Bag.
Sezane Maxi Tote Bag Review
The Sezane Maxi Tote is a weekender bag made of GOTS certified cotton velvet. Which from my perspective is a thicker softer cotton but isn’t actually a plush velvet.
There is one outside pocket. The newer versions have three outside pockets.
Both versions have three straps. A short hand held strap. A shoulder strap and a longer removable cross body strap.
The Maxi Tote does have a zip closure albeit to does not close all the way. Zip closure is in my opinion a must for a travel bag. But I prefer something that closes fully so that you don’t risk things falling out or hands finding their way into your bag.
The inside of the bag is not boring. I love the stripe lining. The newer weekender bags also have this stripey lining which I think makes it so much more fun than your run of the mill weekender bag.
There is one small zipped pocket and two large elasticated pockets on the opposite side.
Size wise it can easily be used for a few nights away. There aren’t any gimicks like a laundry section or shoe compartment but there is loads of room. Sometimes it is easier to pack when you just have one large section.
As I said at the beginning these bags have been redesigned under the line Correspondence. The only two differences I see though is the tag on the front says correspondence instead of Sezane and more pockets on the front of the bag.
I think this bag is fantastic for weekend travel or road trips. But it isn’t something I would choose for flights for two reasons. First it doesn’t zip all the way across. This doesn’t bother me much if I am throwing the bag in the back of my own car. But if I am flying I want something that is very secure. The second reason is because there isn’t a trolley sleeve. I want to make sure the bag I am using for air travel can easily be carried around with my luggage. I do think that the size of this bag is a bit too big to easily fit under an airplane seat. For air travel I much prefer this MZ Wallace bag.
Have you tried the Sezane Travel bags?
