Inturotel Esmerelda Park Aparthotel Review

June of last year we took a family trip to Mallorca. It was our first time to the Spanish island so I wanted to go somewhere family friendly that wouldn’t need to involve road trips to get to the beach. Cala D’Or is a resort town on the eastern side of the island. It is known for having inlets that are great for family friendly swimming. I looked at a number of different hotels but needed something that would work for a family of four. Inturotel Esmerelda Park Aparthotel Review will share why this property worked well for our Mallorca vacation.

Inturotel Esmerelda Park Aparthotel Review

We were dropped off at the round about outside the hotel after about an hour drive from the Mallorca Airport. On the way to the hotel we used the transportation recommened by the hotel. It was way cheaper than getting a private transfer. But I really wish we had of just paid for a private transfer. We waited an extremely long time for the bus to fill up and then we were one of the last people to get dropped off in Cala D’or.

From the roundabout it is easy access to both Esmerelda Park and Cala Azul. We took our luggage (see what we packed here) down the hill to the right and checked in at Esmerelda Park.

I was in awe of the gorgeous white washed buildings and purple flowers climbing the buildings set amongst the mix of palm and pine trees.

The check in process was quick and easy but we did arrive while no one else was arriving. We were able to get our room right away. One of the big pulls of this resort was that it had family suites that weren’t a crazy upgrade. So many European hotels have a standard room with only 1 bed unlike North American Hotels that often have two doubles or queen size beds as standard. But the Inturotel hotels have lots of rooms that will work for families travelling.

We had a premium apartment room which had one bedroom and the family room had a couch that turns into two single beds. Not seen in that room is the small kitchen and table and chairs. The set up is great as we could just have breakfast and lunch in the room, or on the large balcony, while we went out for dinner each night. There were a few different small grocery stores on and just off the property. We also had enough fridge space to keep our leftovers as well as breakfast supplies.

The beach at Cala Esmerelda was one of the big pulls of choosing the Inturotel properties. The calas are long inlets that are an easy calm ocean swimming experience. They feel like if the rocky cliffs of Georgian Bay were merged with the Caribbean.

Esmerelda Park is found right above the Cala Esmerelda beach. On the other side is Cala Ferrera which you can jump into from a set of stairs from Cala Azul another Inturotel property.

We found that it was a much more enjoyable experience swimming at the beach in the morning. By the afternoon it was very busy. It isn’t just the hotel guests that hit the beach because there is a public access so the beach fills up more than you expect.

You can beach hop fairly easily. Cala Ferrera is just on the other side of the resort. We walked to Cala Petita one day and had a great time swimming there. You don’t need a car to try out different beaches in Cala D’Or.

One of the pulls of Cala Esmerelda is the fruit guy! He does a fun dance and honestly how does he cut fruit that fast with a huge knife? You can see him in action here.

Food wise we mostly ate off the resort. We did not choose the all inclusive package so I can’t comment on the buffet. I mentioned that we got some groceries at the small grocery stores nearby. We mostly shopped at the one just off the resort near the tourist train stop. We did eat at the Es Farallo Beach Club a few times. I loved this spot because it looks out over the ocean.

One thing to note is that we were there in June 2024 and since then there have been some renovations. Particularly to the pools. I actually really like the look of the pools since the renovation. It is a more sophisticated look. They are also restricting the pool areas to where you are staying so that everyone from the other Inturotel properties aren’t descending on the pools closest to the beach. We did find it really hard to find a spot by the pool so I hope this will help make it easier for Esmerelda Park guests.

Overall I really liked this spot. I would say the families skew younger. More babies than teens. But the scenery is gorgeous. And the rooms were exactly the kind of space families need when travelling. I would recommend Inturotel Esmerelda Park Aparthotel to anyone looking for a family forward vacation spot in Mallorca.
