I knew about Lilliput Hats after checking out the College Street Little Italy neighbourhood. The hats are worn by celebrities and carried at Holt Renfrew.
But I had never gone in the store. Which is funny because I have always been into hats. I was the kid that actually wore their hat in the school yard.
This past summer I fell in love with a leopard print fedora from JCrew. But it sold out almost as soon as I had read the catalog.
It was a similar hat that drew me to the Lilliput booth at the One of a Kind show this year. All of the hats are fabulous. There are cloches, fedoras as well as more casual styles.
To the left is me trying on the style that I would eventually buy. I put the hat back thinking originally that it was a bit pricey.
But as I continued to walk through the many booths of the One of a Kind that hat was the one thing I wanted to go back and buy more than anything I had seen. So I went back to the booth and tried on a number of styles.
But it was the animal print hat shown that I ended up purchasing. A Christmas present from my husband. Although he doesn’t know it yet.
Stay tuned. I spent some time talking with the designer Karyn Gingras and she invited me to come to the shop and do a store profile for the main site.
In the meantime you can see the hat I bought (better than the picture I took on my blackberry) and some of the other items I purchased at the One of a Kind Show.
