When it comes to the weekend I stick to my own style in the truest sense. That means jeans and t-shirts rule and are the first things I reach for when getting dressed.
But sometimes you have to actually go somewhere on the weekend (or as in the case of this past weekend I THOUGHT I had somewhere to go!)
So how to marry my easy laid back style with something a bit more polished and appropriate for meeting up with other parents or out with friends? A silk blouse instead of a tee, a leather jacket a bit of sparkle all while keeping the denim loose.
So funny story about why this outfit even came into being. My daughter is supposed to attend one of her classmates 5th birthday party. I had put together this casual but cute outfit and drove her over to the play space, went up to the counter and said that we were there for her friends birthday.
They of course looked at me like I had 3 heads because there was no birthday party for that child there that day. They start scrambling and I start entertaining the idea that I had in fact got the date wrong.
So in this digital age I have the invite on my phone of course and when I look it up the party is in fact for next weekend.
So yes I am that mom that gets dates wrong and shows up a week early to a birthday party. At least we didn’t have to go to their house. That would have been VERY embarrassing.
Except for the sandals and necklace all of the items in this outfit are very old. Items that have been in my closet for 4 or more years. I have been dealing with a somewhat limited wardrobe as some of my clothes are packed away. I have also been really trying to limit what I buy. I haven’t found it all that hard lately as it seems with the still cool weather here it is really hard to get excited about warm weather clothing. I mean except for a few days where I can get away with no socks I am mostly still wearing boots and sweaters. It has me feeling a bit blase about getting dressed lately. But this outfit goes to show that it is super easy to shop your closet and remix old favourites to get a new look.
Outfit details: Leather jacket DKNY (old, this is similar in style, this in colour), silk blouse Club Monaco (old but this is similar), boyfriend jeans AG, necklace & Sandals Joe Fresh.
How have you felt about getting dressed lately? Loving everything you have in your closet? Or struggling?

I also live in my jeans on weekends and I've been so uninspired by the weather. I'm not even sure what my legs look like bare anymore. As for the birthday party situation- I've been there done that. We showed up at Glama gals a week early for a spa party. The staff at the tween spa were so nice and even let my daughter pick out a free item (hairband) from their swag bag store.

Oh that was nice! My daughter was definitely disappointed that we had to go home and not stay and play.

I know right? As much as I love jackets I feel like everything I put together is been there done that.
