A week or so ago I instagrammed this pretty peplum outfit and received lots of positive feedback. And since it has now been consistently warm enough to wear it I thought it was time to show the look on the blog.
I love the colours together. I could not be one of those people who just wear black and white, or neutrals all the time. Don’t get me wrong I think they always look chic but I am so drawn to colour that I could never cull such beautiful pieces from my wardrobe.
The peplum top is a few years old now. I found it at Anthropologie and they are probably your number one place to still find peplum tops. There and maybe Asos. Peplums aren’t as trendy as they were a few seasons ago when every style blogger and their brother were wearing them. At this point I suggest you wear a peplum top because you like it, you find it flattering not because it is in or out of style. Peplum tops are great for hiding a bit of tummy, especially one like this where the waist is quite high and there is a lot of material floating away from the body.
Wearing this blouse brings back many feelings about my body. Last year around this time this top was too small. It would not zip up fully in the back and it was the motivation, the final straw if you will to do something about my weight. Not because I thought I was fat but because this cycle of losing some weight in the summer then gaining it back over the winter and then some was getting old. Now I have said this before here on the blog. But somehow I always would end up stopping my workout routine over the winter and I would be back where I started.
This winter I am thankful to say was different. Maybe it was because I knew I was going on Vacation in May so I had motivation over the Jan – April season to get my butt in gear. I didn’t lose as much as I wrote down that I wanted to. Losing is harder than gaining that is for sure! Still I know that this shirt fits better than it has in a long time. It fits the way it is supposed to.
So whether you think my arms look a bit chubby and maybe I should have thrown on a jacket over this look, it doesn’t matter. To me I look amazing in this top, it makes me feel like I have accomplished something to which I should be proud.
Outfit details: Peplum top Anthropologie (old but love this), Cobalt blue trousers JCREW (on sale & current season), Shoes Sole Society, Bag Foley + Corinna (old – similar style), sunglasses Karen Walker

This top looks great on you! I have been trying to lose some weight and have been slacking off. Just bought the Whole30 cookbook and hope to do that for 30 days to push me in the right direction.

Thank you! It is a cliche but I just found I was eating less while I was at work and I made sure to stick to my workouts all winter and it made a huge difference. Now to stick with it through this next year!
