I always love a good DIY. So when the team behind the new movie THE BOXTROLLS – In Theatres September 26th, asked me to be involved in this exciting recycling and re-purposing craft project, I was all for it!
You see The Boxtrolls come out at night and find stuff that people have thrown in the garbage and create amazing things. They think out of the box and remake things to suit their needs. Even boxes serve a new purpose.
So we went through our garbage in search of all the things that would be useful in our project.
Can you guess what we are making yet? Check out the video below to find out more.
Make your own DIY BOX GUITAR out of recyclables from your trash.
What you need:
1. A cardboard box (a large cereal box or box or crackers). Any size will do but keep in mind how stretchy your elastics are and will they fit over your box.
2. Toilet paper or paper towel roll. The size you have on hand will depend on how long you want your guitar handle.
3. Rubber bands, 3 to 5 should do. If you are making multiple guitars, or instruments try using rubber bands of different sizes and strengths. Kids will have fun testing out the difference.
4. Scissors, tape, glue and any decorative materials you want. We covered ours in plain paper so that it was easier to stamp or draw on.
