Many of us head out of the city for long weekends. Whether you are going to start your cottage season this Easter weekend or not for another month, the key for surviving a spring weekend at the cottage is packing appropriately.
Whenever I am packing for the cottage I always tend to go super casual. Sweats, hoodies and sneakers round out most of what is in my weekend bag. One thing to remember is that packing for Spring means you have to remember things like socks instead of bathing suits. It’s very unlikely that you will be swimming this early in the season!
While sweats and hoodies are great for going for walks or chores on your property, they aren’t exactly great for going out for dinner or shopping downtown. I am always jealous of those cottagers that manage to look chic and cottage casual at the same time. These outfits are offering me some inspiration for what to pack this weekend.

Spring at an Ontario Cottage is generally a few degrees cooler than Toronto. Since we have been having cool rainy weather I know that I need to have a cozy sweater, a jacket and some rain gear. I also like to pack at least one pair of shoes other than rain boots or sneakers for walking around downtown.

We always tend to go out for dinner at least once while at the cottage and while I still want to be casual I need to be a bit more dressed up than running around outside with my daughter.
The blouse dresses up dark denim nicely while the western boots keeps a casual feel. I don’t tend to load up on accessories at the cottage but a pair of dangly earings can easily add just a bit of polish.

The great thing about the cottage is relaxing and getting to do things like going for a bike ride without all the traffic of the city. This means that you need to have clothes that you can run around outside in, whether it be to take a hike through the woods or bike into town for ice cream.
Spring at the cottage means packing for the weather. Instead of packing bathing suits and shorts you will need lots of layering items like lightweight sweaters, jeans and sweats.
