One of the things that I get asked alot is how I fit in time for blogging when I have two young kids. One of my answers is “I don’t really like to clean”. Which is true but what is really happening is that when you are spending time watching tv or reading or whatever you do in the evenings I am writing. Especially when the TV is tuned into something I am not overly interested in or is especially gory or really doesn’t require my full attention to follow along.
That said there is one show that I have repeatedly turned off the computer to actually sit and watch; The Blacklist.
New this season and airing on Global in Canada, the Blacklist is a cross between a spy thriller and police procedural. Plus it has a great serial arc that at this point as posed more questions than answers, which means I am hooked.
The Blacklist centers on Raymond “Red” Reddington and Elizabeth “Liz” Keen. Red was once a government agent turned criminal, a sort of international fixer who as the ultimate list of criminals many of which are not even on the FBI’s radar. Red turns himself in within the first episode and offers to work with the FBI becoming their snitch of sorts but he will only talk to Rookie Elizabeth Keen.
The one question that looks like we will finally get answers on is who is Tom Keen? Elizabeth and Tom are married and were posed to adopt a child. Recently that fell apart and the adoption was cancelled. It also seemed like Tom was set to stray with substitute teacher Jolene played by Lucy Brooks who you might recognize from House of Cards.
In the last episode before the 2 week hiatus everything Red seemed to be warning Liz about Tom was coming true. In the last few minutes of the episode Tom made it clear that he was paid to be Liz’s husband! Red seems to be in the know about everything and this secret is coming out. The episode on this Monday past proved Tom to be a bit of a badass, killing off Red’s henchman (for lack of a better word) and Jolene who I thought was sent by Tom’s employer. I can’t wait for all this to play out!
Style wise it is the criminals you have to watch for inspiration. Red is known for his fedoras and luxurious overcoats. Liz on the other hand is wearing generic black or navy pant suits much like every other FBI procedural on TV. Instead watch her for soft day appropriate makeup and great long layered hair.
The Blacklist is back on the 24th with another new episode. Watch on Global at 10 pm Monday evenings.

This is a Sponsored post but the opinions expressed are my own. As you know I don’t usually blog about TV but when this opportunity presented itself I said HECK YES! because I just can’t get enough of this show.
