And other stories Voluminous Belted Wool Coat review

I have had a few different & other stories coats over the years. They always seem to carry something chic and to me at least very European looking. More refined and classic in a way North American brands don’t always capture. The And Other Stories Voluminous Belted Wool Coat review will share why this might be the best of the & other stories coats that I have tried to date.

And other stories Voluminous Belted Wool Coat Review

The & other stories voluminous belted coat comes in five different neutral colours and is a 100% wool coat. Well the lining isn’t wool but the outer coat is.

The coat has a texture to it almost like a boucle wool. There is a button closure and a belt. The belt is long enough to tie the coat closed with a bow if that is something you like to do. Not all coat belts are long enough to do that!

Of the three & other stories coats that I have tried over the years this one is the thickest and heaviest. This one was thin. It was definitely made for a European market that might not get the same amount of snow and below zero temperatures that we get in Canada. This one I still have and it is thinner but because it is made with alpaca it is warmer even though it is lightweight.

But this coat is heavier. Not as heavy as my slouch coats (here and here) but heavy enough I wouldn’t shy away from wearing it in the dead of winter.

Size wise I got the large. So while the name describes this coat as voluminous I would argue it is a true to size coat. But one that allows you to wear your chunkiest knits. I tested this out and there is lots of room in the shoulders and arms for thick sweaters. I would describe this coat as nicely relaxed. If you usually size up to fit sweaters you do not need to do this. I would order your usual size. I wouldn’t size down unless you are looking for a more fitted coat. That said if you are looking for a more fitted coat I would try this coat instead.

The one thing I am considering is removing the buttons. I feel like you don’t really need buttons AND the belt. For me I would belt it most of the time if I am wearing it closed.

Overall I am very happy with this coat. I don’t think it is voluminous. When I read that I think it is so big I would need to size down. It is just a generous true to size coat but I get that that name likely wouldn’t sell coats.
