It is a new year and that for many of us means a fresh start. Thinking about how to improve our lives, achieve our goals and get what we want.
I have already jumped back on the fitness horse. I usually fall off the wagon when I get a cold and then take my sweet time getting back into it. I am not sure why as I feel so much better when I am exercising. I guess laziness is just my natural state.
As for style related resolutions I have a few in mind. I mentioned a few in yesterday’s post but they are pretty superficial. I actually contemplated a no shopping for a year promise or a quarter. But honestly I would feel silly putting affiliate links in the posts when I am doing a whole no shopping gimmick.
So gimmicks aside I plan on creating a shopping budget and doing my darndest to stick within it. That means fewer impulse buys late night online and at the grocery store (curse you JOE FRESH!). More saving up for quality or scoring it via Vintage and Consignment shops. I would say I could start thrifting but I seem to fare poorly at that – we will see maybe 2013 could be the year of the thrift!
Looking back on 2012 I feel like I accomplished what I started posting outfit pictures for in the first place. Forcing me out of the postpartum comfort zone of sweats and oversized tees and drapey sweaters.
I think I have a better grasp of what works on my body and know that putting a bit of effort into an outfit goes a long way.
I can also say that I have become a bit addicted to photography, whether it be improving pictures on this blog or taking them of my kids. Investing in the DSLR camera has been a big help to producing better photos!
I am so looking forward to 2013. I want to say thank you for following along, whether we are blog friends, you follow in silence or you are one of my real life friends who only read the blog because, well, you have too (lol), THANK YOU. I hope that you get out of the blog even a fraction of the joy that I get from putting it together.
Outfit details: Coat Oasap, coated denim 7 for all mankind via Aritzia, boots Joe Fresh (similar), Hat Simple Smiles via the One of a Kind Show, belt Linea Pelle via Mendocino, stripe knit top JCREW (similar loving this one too).
How do you feel about the New Year? Have you got any exciting plans?

It is HUGE motivation to try and look your best when you are sharing your style on the internet.

hahaha you make me laugh ... I'm glad you decided NOT to add no shopping to your New Years Resolution list - that would be torture. A budget, however, is acceptable ;) From one shopaholic to another!
Curious to see how your thrifting turns out!! xo

oh the whole no shopping thing ends in disaster for me. I tried it before for like a month and after 3 weeks I go a bit crazy. Sad really but true!

I love your goals for this year - and I'm getting back into fitness too! I decided I hate running but I can walk, so I'm doing 45 minutes 3-4 days a week. UGH. But still - it's good to be healthy. You look great, cozy and chic, and I totally want a wrap sweater now!

thanks! I was actually making sure to go for a walk and doing the 30 day Shred videos back through the fall and it was working great! Of course I fell off the wagon, but trying hard to make it work again. I hate running too, just not good at it. I will say that the right mix of songs does make it better, but I am better with a class or tape than sticking with running.

One of my goals is to buy consignment and save my $$ for a few investment pieces. This year I saved and got two things that have been on my list for AGES and I now realize that's the way to go!

Consignment is great really. It is a way to shop way outside your budget brand wise but stay within the budget money wise.
