Beauty Round Up

I go in phases with makeup. Trying all sorts of new things and then not again for a while. Lately I have been on a trying new things and many of them are quite fantastic.

1. Arbonne CC Cream – I know I am totally behind the times but this is the first CC cream I tried. I had many compliments when I wore this product to Fashion Week. it provides great coverage with just a little bit of product and unlike regular foundation it actually makes your skin feel BETTER the next day.

2. Nars Red Square – Like I needed another orange-y red lip colour but I tried Nars Red Square to see where it stood in the spectrum of orange-y reds. It might be my new favourite. A hidden gem if you will from the Nars Velvet Matte line. Stay tuned next week when I do a round up/comparison between Nars Red Square and Nars Heat Wave.

3. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – While I am not exactly a fan of make up sponges they do serve as a good tool for blending foundations so that they don’t have lines and streaks. What I don’t love about them is that their triangular shape is a bit awkward and they soak up product like crazy. The Real Techniques sponge works better than your standard makeup sponge for a few reasons. It glides over your skin more easily and is ergonomically designed to fit the contours of your face and better sit in your fingers. It is even cut in such a way that it easily blends around the eye and nose. It still eats up product, but I was impressed with the results of using this sponge.

4. Eco Tools Skin Perfecting Brush – So I when applying make up I usually start with my fingers and then use a brush or sponge to blend. The Eco Tools Skin Perfecting brush is developed for CC creams and again is cut to blend easily around the nose and eyes. I prefered this brush to the tradional flat foundation brush.

I can’t really say that the Real Techniques Sponge or the Eco Tools Brush is better than the other. It really depends on your personal preference to brushes over sponges. I will say that the sponge is developed to do more wider range of application as there is a pointy end for small redness.

5. Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush – I am one of those people that really can’t do a cat eye. I just don’t have the precision when it comes to keeping steady or creating the perfect flick. I do know that it requires some precision tools. This silicone liner brush would be great for creating super thin lines if used by a professional or someone more practiced then myself. But I was only able to create super thin, super wobbly liner. I much prefer a traditional liner brush (albeit a thin one) to this product but only because I need it to fan (which the silicone cannot do) to cover my imperfect hand. It is super easy to clean, but doesn’t hold as much product at one time as a hair brush would.
