I basically live in sweaters all winter. I love a cashmere sweater. You can wear a thin knit that packs a big punch. They are warm and soft. But cashmere can often come with a high price tag. There are brands doing what I call affordable cashmere that is priced around $100 – $150. If you are lucky you can score some on sale for under $100. These are the brands with Best Affordable Cashmere.
Before we get into the best affordable cashmere sweaters I think you should invest in a depiller. It was crucial to keeping my cashmere looking good. Even the best cashmere will pill over time.
The Best Affordable Cashmere
Everlane – probably one of my favourite places to get affordable cashmere. They have a number of different styles. Even recycled cashmere. Their classic cashmere crew is a great fit. True to size without feeling too big or too small. I love the extra long cuffs. I swear the cuffs trap the heat in the sweater. These sweaters are priced at $100 USD. There are even some colours in the sale. The Everlane sweaters I have aren’t AS soft at first. But they don’t pill as easily and wash well. After washing they seem to get softer.

H&M – unlike the other companies on this list that have a standard classic cashmere sweater, H&M has loads of different styles. You will more likely find looser oversized styles. There is much more variation in what cashmere they offer. Cardigans and turtlenecks, ribbed styles and clean styles. The difference is when these sell out they are gone and a new styles replace them. I do find that my H&M sweater pills very easily. But they do wash well.
Lord & Taylor – I bought my Lord and Taylor cashmere turtleneck via The Bay. It was soft but the size was the most snug of all the brands here. The large fit more slim to the body but the arms were not too tight. I love the colour I got. Compared to the other brands there was a larger range of colour options. Mostly very classic options available.

Joe Fresh – I found the most affordable cashmere at this retailer. They have marked down their $99 cashmere (it is $99 for Canadians and Americans and that NEVER happens) and it is a total steal. I got some the other day and was impressed. Joe Fresh had the most generous sizing of a classic cashmere sweater. If we use Everlane as a guide for TTS, Lord and Taylor fits about a half size small but Joe Fresh fits about a half size large. The sweaters also have a longer fit. The turtleneck is not one of those ones that are too tight.
Honourable mentions to JCREW and Marks & Spencer. In the past I have found some great deals on cashmere in the JCREW sale. I have heard lots of good things about the Marks and Sparks cashmere but haven’t tried it myself yet. I also have a cashmere cardigan form Nordstrom that I live in while I am lounging at home but I am not sure it is super affordable unless you buy it during the NSale.
