Get Caped

One of my favourite coats from last year was the cape coat from Zara that I scored on sale. It was great through the transition from winter to spring but also great layered up for colder days.

I love the way capes add drama to outfits so I am obviously on the hunt for another option for my wardrobe.

These are my picks for the Cape Coat Trend 2015.

Shop the capes:

1. Checked Wool Blend Cape

2. ASOS Blanket Cape in Check

3. Stripe Wool Blend Wrap Front Cape (last few days to score this on sale!)

4. Vila Stripe Fringe Detail Cape

5. Vintage Wool Cape

6. Vince Cape Coat – Blanket Stripe

7. Paul & Joe Vertical Stripe Cape

Because capes add quite a volume to your look, I tend to try to keep the bottom level slim. It keeps all the drama on the cape.

Because you can throw a cape over lighter jackets you can easily layer them up for colder weather. I wore mine over everything from chunky knits, jean jackets to leather jackets which were the warmest option.

I wore my cape with everything, weekend looks and office outfits and it looked great either way so if you are worried about this style being too casual or not versatile think again!

The only drawback is if you misjudge the weather and go too light underneath. Some mornings the cape was a bit too airy  when I only wore a sweater underneath. Still this is no different than if you wore a light spring jacket on a day that was colder than you expected. I found if I had a big scarf with me at all times it was the perfect way to keep warm when wearing a cape instead of a full coat.

Such a huge trend for this fall. Can't wait to add a cape to my closet.
