I have a thing right now for the perfect casual silk shirts. There is just something about the way silk falls. Plus lets face it silk has the ability to be dressed up or down depending on whether you pair it with denim or a pencil skirt.
Still I am drawn to silk shirts with pyjama details or quirky prints like the horses below.
1. JCREW Tipped Boy Shirt (on SALE)
2. Regal Blue Signature Silk Shirt
3. Madewell Silk Boyshirt in Birdslife (on SALE)
5. ASOS Silk Shirt in Melting Smudge Print
6. French Connection Sarah Silk Classic Shirt (on SALE)
7. Madewell Silk Boyshirt in Sketchyard
I think that all of us, especially as we hit our late 20’s early 30s, should start collection beautiful silk shirts that will easily transition from under a suit jacket for work to half tucked into a pair of favourite jeans for the weekend.
This is how I would wear it:
Outfit details: Shirt JCREW Tipped Boy Shirt, Jeans Current/Elliott The Side Cut low-rise skinny jeans, Shoes ROSEGOLD Zane Woven Booties, Bag Gypset Chevron Satchel
Who makes your favourite silk shirt?
PS. Many of us are afraid of silk because of cleaning it, but it is a natural fiber and therefore less likely to shrink in the wash than say rayon. I have actually dropped salad oil on a silk dress more times than I care to admit and using baby powder to draw out the oil stain my mom (who is like a miracle worker with stains) was able to get it out every time. Just leave the baby powder on the oil stain over night and wash as usual without any stain remover. You might have to do this a few times (ie draw out more oil) before it is totally fixed. AND YES I am saying wash the silk yourself aside from sending it to the dry-cleaner as this could seal in the stain and ruin your silk.
