This past summer we did a mini makeover upstairs. The guest bedroom got the biggest overhaul of all. We painted the walls from yellow to a greige and we replaced the brown shag carpet throughout the upstairs. The guest bedroom went from a dumping ground to a place I would actually want to share with others! I thought it would be the perfect backdrop for some Christmas spirit. This is our Christmas Guest Bedroom Décor.
Christmas Guest Bedroom Décor
The foundation of this Christmas bedroom is the white plumeti set. White is easy to build off of as you can layer any Christmas pattern or colours.
I accented the room with a Stewart plaid which to me just screams Christmas. I have the cotton sherpa blanket and the pillow shams. You could take it a step further and choose the duvet set instead. Since I already had the foundational duvet set for this room I went for accents instead.
The cozy sherpa blanket has a tartan cotton on one side, soft sherpa on the other and trimmed in red velvet. It is a great quilt to add to a bed for the winter months.
The pillow shams are not the same soft cotton. They are more textured, woven feel. I have fallen asleep on them and while they aren’t smooth to the touch they are not itchy and uncomfortable.
The Stewart plaid also comes in a black option.
The other accent pillows I picked up at Homesense. The green plaid is from this year. I have seen a camel plaid version as well that would also work. The Santa pillow is many years old but there are so many different options you could find (like this, this or this). The Stewart Plaid set would also look great with some large black faux fur pillows as accents.
The same goes for the wreath and garland. Those are older Homesense finds as well. My mini tree collection is from all over. Ikea, Homesense even the grocery store. I tend to find a tree or two every year and add them to my collection.
This room is almost finished. I need to source a more permanent solution to the bed side table. I took the one featured above from our room for the time being. I am not in love with the white. I am thinking something grey or something wood but perhaps lighter than the floor and bed. The sleigh bed set is very old from the mid 2000s. It is still a work in process. I also need to find some large frames for some more of my Paris photos I want to frame. I promise a full look at the room once I finalize everything.
Do you decorate your bedrooms for Christmas? In the past we have only really added Christmas bedding but I like the idea of adding more Christmas decor to the bedrooms whether it is a few mini trees or Christmas wreaths on the walls.
