Don’t put away the floral trouser!

When I was trying to think up a titles for this post I realized that printed pants might have had their day. You definitely don’t see them as much as last year or even 2 years ago.

So what does that mean for the printed pants in your closet? Is it still on trend to wear printed pants? Should you consign or donate the lot of them? Are printed pants so OVER?

The anatomy of a trend is something like this. First you see it on early adopters and on the runways. Sometimes in that order sometimes the other way around. Either way this is where trends emerge. The next season trends trickle down to the masses through the high street shops. Depending whether the trend is a flash in the pan or has more staying power the trend might be in stores for a season or less or stick around for multiple season respectively.

But ultimately whether something is trendy or not you need to ask yourself if said item (like printed pants) is still on trend for YOU.

For me I still love the print on these pants. I think they are pretty and they pair well with many things in my closet. On the other hand I have floral denim that just doesn’t feel fresh to me anymore, more like I am trying too hard. Not that I am going to totally rid my closet of them but I just don’t wear them as often. These pants above feel like a statement piece that will still be an attractive pant even when no one is talking about printed pants anymore.

This time around I played up the summery vibe of the florals and paired these pants with more colour. The neon pink cashmere sweater is from a past season JCREW and the Sole Society block heels are still available here.
