What do you do when you need to style a summer dress for colder, winter weather? Pair the dress with a coordinating coloured coat and hope for the best!
The coat does make a big difference in terms of warmth, but I also went with a nude hose to cut the cold of bare legs.
Nude panty-hose aren’t exactly popular but I like them for at this time of year when I want to simulate bare legs. If I was going with what was popular I would have paired this dress with black tights and booties but I think that is more of a day look.
The beautiful boho dress you see here is from online boutique eShakti. They offer a range of clothing that you can tweak and customize to your size and style.
Not every item is customizable in the same way, but once you choose your base design you can choose from off the rack sizes or adjust the measurements to better fit your frame.
On the dress above I was able to add sleeves and adjust the length, which is just what I did. I went slightly longer and added a cap sleeve. Other designs I was playing around with allowed for changes to the neckline as well.
The only thing I found a bit odd about the whole process is the sizing. Don’t just pick your size as it probably won’t fit like you were expecting. My first thought that the eShakti was using UK sizing, but when I compared their sizing chart to my favourite UK high street stores I didn’t find what I was expecting. You see a UK size 14 is a US size 10. And the eShakti size 14 was equivalent to a US size 12.
Every retailer has different sizing. Some are more vanity sized than others. All I am saying is that it is best to measure yourself when ordering off a site you aren’t familiar with, especially one that doesn’t allow for trying something on before you buy.
I did measure myself and I am happy with the sizing as a result. The dress is a bit roomy through the bust and shoulders. I probably would have been safe to go down a size but I don’t like gambling with size when I am ordering online. The skirt of the dress is fully lined and the cotton print is gorgeous. The skirt even has pockets!

The dress looks great on you and you transitioned it perfectly for the cooler temps! I hate to put my summer dresses away. I'm so glad you brought up nude hose!! Every winter I struggle with nude hose vs. bare legs, it's just too darn cold to go bare legged! I think we can bring nude nylons back in style ;) Great post Jane!

I haven't ordered from eShakti, but I've seen lots of bloggers who have and it sounds like it's a good experience. I love your dress. The colours are so pretty and vivid.

Thanks Liana, I liked that I was able to make it my dress. I think a lot of the negative things I have read are about fit and if you measure yourself first instead of just picking "your size" it is good. I stuck with the natural fibers too which I think makes for a nice dress.

I love your dress! I styled one from eShakti recently as well. I also noticed a bit of extra room in the shoulders area; but otherwise an amazing piece! :) I also love that the skirts are lined. Woot woot!

I know right - makes it feel like you are getting what you paid for with the lined skirt and pockets :)
