It is corduroy season! When I was in high school that meant scouring the thrift shops for vintage Levi’s flare cords. I still love a cord pant for fall winter because they not only look warm and cozy they are warmer than jeans. Everlane sent a pair of Corduroy Wide Leg pants and I was really hoping they would be a fun alternative trouser. I will share why in my Everlane Corduroy Wide Leg Pant review why this isn’t the case.
Everlane Corduroy Wide Leg Pant Review
The Everlane Corduoy Wide Leg Pant is made of a fine wale corduroy making for a super soft pant. The fabric is mostly cotton with some stretch. The stretch makes the pants comfortable especially with the high rise. The pants come in four colour options. The one I am wearing here is toasted coconut.
The fit is very different from the Easy Pants that Everlane released in the spring. The Coruroy Wide leg pant is very fitted through the hips and bum and upper thigh. They are going for more of a 70’s feel. I was hoping these pants were going to translate into more of a high rise corduroy trouser but it really isn’t that at all.
On someone that has a curvy body shape these pants are snug in all the wrong places. If the fit was closer to the Easy Pant which like the name suggests is more easy through the bum, hips and thigh I would like these pants more. I did like them better when I tried them on with spanx but lets be realistic I am not going to be wearing spanx with a pair of corduroy pants. I don’t feel this uncomfortable in skinny jeans which are a snug fit.
When I tried these pants on initially I went back to compare them with the Easy Pants and the waist is the same size. Then I realized it wasn’t that they felt like they were too tight in the waist so much as too snug through the hips and bum. The Easy pants are not only a wider leg but provide more room through the bum, hips and thighs.
I do prefer how these pants do not have the large carpenter jeans pockets. And I do like how soft they feel and how the stretch gives the pants a super comfy feel. I think they should add a navy option to the colours and maybe a burgundy.
Overall these are nice pants for someone who is long and slim. The girls who have no hips and slim legs will be able to pull these off much better than myself. Those of us who are curvy and have more of a booty, either need to size up or steer clear.
