The Everlane Day Loafer is one of the latest additions to the Day family of shoes. Similar to the others in this collection it is made of super soft leather. Elastic back and cushioned soles are just some of the features of these loafers. Keep reading for my full Everlane Day Loafer Review.
Everlane Day Loafer Review
I have had a good run with Everlane Loafers before. The Modern loafer was what started me looking at Everlane in the first place. I wore them to death. When I saw the Day Loafer I really liked the look of them too even though the look was a bit different than the Modern Loafer, which is more angular and pointy.
The Day Loafer has a more rounded almond toe. Since it is made with softer leather it is less structured than the Modern Loafer. The back is elastic allowing for a bit snugger fit without any rubbing.
The bottoms are the same as the Day Glove which is more rubberized. This is in contrast to the leather bottom of the Modern Loafer. Personally I find the rubberized bottom easier to walk in as it gives more traction. Feels like the comfort of a sneaker.
I find the Day Loafer preferable to the Day Flat. The look is more professional and it feels better on my feet.
I would size up though. I got my usual Everlane size of 8.5 which is a half size larger than what I usually wear but I still find these snug. They are a narrow fit. That said they didn’t irritate the bunion on my one foot. The soft leather is very accommodating.
I also find the elastic to be snug. I don’t notice it so much if I am wearing them for short periods of time but all day at work I definitely noticed the snug fit. I am hoping with more wear and breaking in this will lesson. I did find that the case with the Day Flat which had the elasticized back.
I love the look of the Day Loafer. The almond shape toe is probably my favourite toe shape. It is elongating without being super pointy. They feel a bit more preppy rather than edgy.
The soft leather feels great right out of the box. That said these shoes do need a bit of break in time especially if you have wider feet. The shoes are cut more long and narrow so if you have long slim feet they could be a good option for you. Even still the fit is small, although that tends to be the norm of Everlane shoes. Still these (which I got in an 8.5) fit closer to the 8 I got in the Day Flat. I got the 8.5 in the Day Heel and the elastic is much looser at the heel with out any breaking in.
Comparing this loafer to the Modern loafer is hard because they are different in almost every way. The Modern Loafer has a pointy toe but otherwise is closer to a traditional loafer with more structure. The Day Loafer is closer to a moccasin because it is much less structured and softer leather than a traditional loafer.
I wouldn’t suggest one over the other as I could find room in my work wardrobe for either option. That said I much prefer the Day Loafer to the other day options that more closely resembles a ballet flat.
What do you think is this a shoe that you want in your closet?
