At this time of year I love a good turtleneck. The mark of a good turtleneck is when the roll neck is not too tight that you feel constricted but also not so loose that it is drapey like a cowl neck. I also wondered what is this soft wool. I figured it must be blended with something else to get its softness. I was lucky to be sent this turtleneck as a gift to share and review by the team at Everlane. This is my Everlane Italian Soft Wool Rib Turtleneck Review.
Everlane Italian Soft Wool Rib Turtleneck Review
There were a number of things that made me want to try the soft wool turtleneck Everlane launched this December. What is the secret to Everlane’s soft wool? I really don’t know but if you usually find 100% wool sweaters heavy and itchy you will like the soft wool. It is soft and lightweight. In fact looking at the sweater you would assume it is heavy because it looks like a chunky knit but it really isn’t.
Now the soft wool isn’t as soft as something blended with cashmere or alpaca or other softer wools but it is softer than you would expect from wool, light and not itchy.
I think my favourite thing about this turtleneck is the actual turtleneck. It might be the perfect one. It is not tight but not too loose. It has enough structure to stay up and is a nice long roll neck.
Where this sweater loses me is the length. This sweater is an oversized fit. It is also long, but not so long it would be a tunic length. It doesn’t cover my tush. Personally I wish it had been a bit shorter or longer. Shorter to sit closer to my natural waist. Or longer to be a true tunic style. The way it is cut right now it just gives this pouchy look to the stomach. It even appears that way on the models although to a much less degree that my curvy 5’4 self. You can wear this sweater with a bit of a half tuck or wear it rolled over but I do find it bags out a bit after a few wears.
Of all the Everlane sweaters I own I would say this is the only one that is truly oversized and if you want a tighter fit I would recommend to size down.
If you are looking for a turtleneck that isn’t itchy and has a perfect not too tight or too loose roll neck this is a good option. I love this red. It is really gorgeous for this time of year. However I prefer the Everlane cashmere (reviewed here) or the Everlane Alpaca sweater (reviewed here) for my shape and body type. I think if you are taller and leaner this sweater would be a good option for you.
What do you think of the Everlane Italian Soft Wool Rib Turtleneck review? Is this a style of sweater you would go for?
This sweater was gifted to me by Everlane however the opinions expressed in this review are all my own. Thank you for supporting the partners of chic everywhere.

Love it in red and looks a nice fit around the neck. I thought this was a polo neck sweater in style what is the difference.? Either way this would be ideal to wear with my tartan skirt.

Over here a polo shirt is a golf shirt so three little buttons and a collar like this , this style is a turtleneck or roll neck. Because the neck rolls over and your head pops out similar to how a turtle pops out of its shell. I did look it up it is a UK vs American english thing and I guess Canadians are more American english on this one!
It is a gorgeous colour and honestly I would have expected this sweater to be heavy because most chunky knits are. IT is so light!
