I know what you are thinking. “Jane didn’t you just review a pair of Chelsea boots?” and yes I did. I wanted to compare the two chelsea boots that Everlane has right now to show where they are different and which is the best option. The Everlane New Modern Chelsea Boot Review will do just that; share what I like about this boot and compare to the Utility Boot.
Everlane New Modern Chelsea Boot Review
Made of Italian Leather this Chelsea Boot has a sleek look with an almond toe. There is a stacked 1.25 heel and a leather pull tab. There is the usual elastic panel that allows for easy pull on and off access. This panel is just a rectangle unlike the irregular shape of the Utility boot panel.
The sole of the New Modern Chelsea Boot is slick and I think leather but Everlane does not say that explicitly. They do not have as much traction as the chunkier rubber sole of the Utility Chelsea Boot but I think they look dressier.

Fit wise I took my usual Everlane size of 8.5 which is a half size larger than I would wear elsewhere. The New Modern Chelsea feels wider than the Utility Chelsea. I find them less snug across the widest part of my foot.
The New Modern Chelsea Boot is slightly more pointy than the Utility Chelsea. But it isn’t a super pointed toe. I actually wish it was more pointed like the now discontinued Heel Boot. I think that would have made a more edgy flat chelsea boot.
This Chelsea boot only comes in black leather. It also is flatter than the Utility Chelsea boot. The heel is only 1.25 inches versus 1.6 inches on the Utility Chelsea.
If I had to choose one boot out of the New Modern Chelsea and the Utility Chelsea I would hands down pick the New Modern Chelsea. I prefer the fit and the sleeker look. I also feel like the leather is more luxurious. These made in Italy boots feel more in line with the quality I expect from Everlane.
What do you think of the Everlane New Modern Chelsea Boot Review? Do you prefer this style or are you into the more chunky sole of the Utility Chelsea boot?
