I have a thing for Everlane Cashmere sweaters. I had a few that I bought on my own long before I started getting sent anything from the company. So when Everlane launched their ReCashmere line I wanted to check it out. Not only to see if they are as wearable as their $100 cashmere but also to experience recycled cashmere for myself. This is my Everlane ReCashmere Vintage Crew review. Everlane sent me this sweater to review but all opinions are my own.
Everlane ReCashmere Vintage Crew Review
So what exactly is ReCashmere? That is just Everlane’s way of saying recycled cashmere. The sweaters are a blend of 60% recycled cashmere and 40% extra fine merino wool.
The ReCashmere sweaters are soft but not quite as soft as their $100 cashmere crew. But even their classic cashmere got softer with wear so I expect there to be some similar softening.
You can see from these pictures the Vintage Crew style is more cropped than the standard cashmere sweater. I like this sweater with higher waisted pants. They pair well.
The ribbing at the cuffs and collar are the most noticeable differences from the $100 cashmere crew. I love the extra long snug cuffs on the standard cashmere crew. They seem to seal in the warmth. The cuffs on the ReCashmere crew are still long just a bit less snug. I prefer the ribbing at the collar and hem on the ReCashmere though. There is nothing wrong with the standard crew but I prefer this ribbing detail. It makes it feel like it has chunky sweater details even though it is a thin knit.
The colour I am wearing is spiced chai. It is a bit more rich colour than a camel. More like a toffee colour.
The weight of the ReCashmere knit is what I would expect, thin but still warm.
The slightly shorter cut in the body makes it easy to do a bit of a half tuck if that is something you like to do with your sweaters.
I went with my normal size. The fit through the body is pretty similar to the standard cashmere sweater but I feel like through the arms it is a bit looser.
The ReCashmere sweaters are priced slightly less expensive than the $100 cashmere crews which is AWESOME. Honestly I can’t really tell the difference without being super nit picky about the cut and details. Plus I love the fact that recycling is making its way into fashion in a big way.
What do you think of the Everlane ReCashmere Vintage Crew Review? Is this a sweater that is on your wish list?
PS the jeans in this post are the Authentic Stretch Skinny and they are fantastic. I will be reviewing them soon.
