Boot season is upon us and they are my go to shoe once I have to put on socks. Western style boots are a great option to have even if you are a city girl at heart. Especially ones that don’t actually belong at a rodeo. Ones that are inspired by cowboy boots but can more easily transition from the office to weekend. I was sent a pair of the Everlane Western boots to try and as always I want to balance the good and the bad. This is my Everlane Western Boot review.
Everlane Western Boot Review
The Western boot is like many homages to the style a minimalistic version of a cowboy boot. Which personally is exactly what I want. I want the shape, the cut of the style with out all the flourish. The toe and the heel are very western looking. But the clean style give it a more modern look and feel.
I have the Western boot in the russet suede. This style also comes in a black or white leather. I always find suede to be a bit softer and looser.
As usual I took an 8.5 in these boots which is my go to Everlane size. Most of their shoes and boots are cut small and narrow which means you need to size up. I usually recommend to buy a half size larger than the largest size you usually wear.
These boots are no exception. That being said they do feel roomier than my other Everlane boots. However I chalk that up to these being suede and the large elastic at the back ankle. There is just more give in these boots which makes them quite comfortable.
Sometimes pull on boots can be a bit tricky. I find that especially with Everlane’s Rain boots. There just isn’t enough give to get your foot in easily. The Western boot is the opposite. There is a larger elastic panel which makes pull on a breeze.
The boot is also cut so that it hugs the ankle. Sometimes this shape can fit a bit too snug. However with the large elastic panel Everlane avoids that feeling completely. You notice it when you are walking especially since there is lots of give in the boot.
If you are looking for a dupe of the Saint Laurent Western boots these are a good option. They aren’t exactly the same. With the way they have paneled the leather on the Everlane ones there is a bit more going on. The Saint Laurent ones are even more minimal. Also the Everlane panel is just the black elastic whereas the Saint Laurent ones are more like a suede accordion panel. The heel is also slightly higher on the Saint Laurent version. Still you can get the same sort of look for much less.
Are you into the Western boot style? Is this something you see in your wardrobe?

I think having your leg show just a bit between your pants and the boots would make you look a little taller. The proportion looks a little heavy. Otherwise really appreciate the post!

Personally I don't do the bare ankle look when it is cold outside. As you can see from the coats I was wearing in the post it was cold outside. The western boot also has a higher shaft so your pants would have to be very cropped to show any leg. Personally I don't really do anything more cropped than an ankle length. But to each his own.
