I have become a bit obsessed lately with reading more European blogs. French girls in particular have come to inspire alot of my looks lately. I have been trying to pinpoint what it is about how they put their outfits together that seems to make them look so much more chic compared to their American counterparts.
So I consulted everything from my pinboards to my blogroll to check out how I could create more outfits that were similar to those that inspire me.
So many of the outfits had two main things in common.
1. Artful layers; because it’s not about piling everything you own onto your body. If I did that I would look huge. Generally the layering pieces are thin and don’t add alot of bulk and of course a scarf is key.
2. Monochromatic or neutral palate. I love colour I really do but a little bit can go a long way. Often the outfits I pin have just a bit of colour in the scarf or pick one colour and stick to it. Others are varying tones of neutrals and look really amazing.
I am not saying I am not going to experiment with print mixing anymore or never rock a dress, but when it comes to my everyday fall look, I want it to be inspired by the very best of European style.
Outfit details; Black Sweater & Army jacket Club Monaco (love this Camo version), Jeans James Jeans, Scarf Madewell (loving this one), Boots Joe Fresh, Jewellery Stella & Dot.
