I am a big hat person. In the summer it is all about creating some shade. When the temperatures drop it is all about staying warm and keeping the snow or rain out of my face.
When it comes to Fall Hat Trends I have noticed that wool felt hats are still going strong but we are moving away from the basic black hat.
Styles range from the standard fedora, rounded floppy brim to larger brimmed rancher styles. I have noticed that navy is a big colour this year as well as lighter shades of brown and grey.

To me there is nothing cooler than a pair of jeans, a great coat and a fun wide brimmed hat. Plus I always find they are much warmer than I expect because unlike a touque they don’t exactly cover your ears. Still the felted wool is super warm and the brim keeps everything shaded from the wind.
If you really want to play up the 70’s vibe you can pair a floppy brim hat with some seriously wide legged denim. But when it is the middle of winter the last thing I want to do is drag along wide legged pants through the snow and salt and slush. I am more into stuffing some skinny pants into winter boots. Then I tend to keep my coat a bit over sized (great for stuffing sweaters underneath) then tie on a big scarf and a wide brim hat.
What do you think of the fall hat trends? Are you still into the felted fedora or is there a style that you like better?
