I saw two shows last night the first of which was Soia & Kyo, the Canadian Outerwear designed by Ilan Elfassy. Fur trims, puffer details, leather and wool; I thought the collection was luxurious and super wearable right off the catwalk.
Fur detailing was everywhere in the collection (which then made sense why Peta was protesting outside the tents). Fur on the hoods and fur line trapper hats; there is something about the way fur floats in the air that is so much more luxurious than faux. Whether or not the fur trim will still be a big part of the collection when it hits stores remains to be seen.
Although I might be simplifying things a bit here but there were three distinct styles for the mens collections, puffer, leather and wool. All seemed to have a military influence. The puffer coats came in a short bomber style (like the leather jacket above) and a longer thigh length style.
My favourite jacket from the Women’s Soia & Kyo collection was the leather bomber jacket above. From where I was sitting the leather looked buttery soft and that fur-trimmed hoodie well is the perfect mix of casual and luxury.
Women’s coats included wool toggle coats with leather detailing, there was even a wool coat with puffer sleeves. Cape like jackets and bomber styles. What I liked about the women’s puffer coats was the shape. They were fitted giving a woman shape, not a Michelin Man style bubble.
Much of the collection was fairly neutral in colour but there was a great red coat as well as an amazing mustard coloured short jacket with oversized knit lapel.
Styling wise I noticed that the girls were wearing knit dresses and had a heeled desert boot like shoe so keep those in your closet for Fall 2012.
Great collection, incredibly wearable.
