Working on my fitness isn’t exactly a New Years resolution for me. It is something I have been trying to work on since forever. But I seem to do really well through the spring and early summer and then lose ground in the fall. Working out in winter? Forget about it. So this year (or rather 2014) I wanted to change that.
I was sick of working out in the warmer months, losing weight and then gaining it all back in the winter months. Getting nowhere fast. This year I want to make progress all year. Especially since starting in March I have wedding after wedding to attend. One in Brazil which means my beach body needs to look on the hot side of not flabby.
So far I am doing alright. I am down from my highest non pregnancy weight last spring. But I haven’t lost as much as the ambitious me wanted to. So I am creating a space here to hold me accountable. Where I can talk about the things that motivate me to work out and eat right. To share some recipes, playlists, workouts with you. I am all for fitness inspiration but I want to commiserate with someone who like me is going through it not get more tips from yet another super fit twenty something. Or even worse a super fit 40 plus something that makes me feel like a failure for getting to this version of myself in the first place.
So to kick off Fitness Friday I thought I would share a review of some workout pants I picked up recently at Winners.
Tank/blue pant/athletic bra/new balance/long sleeve tee/black pant/shoes
So if you are at any store that sells workout gear you will notice they have been pushed to the front of the store and the selection has blossomed. I found a pair of MPG workout pants (they are CANADIAN! Who knew?!) in a fun violet print at my local winners the other day and they were just the motivation I needed to keep on moving daily.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the fit. It is like the pants suction in everything. The fabric is thicker than what I am used to from a workout pant and it makes all the different. Plus the print is super fun.
I also invested in a new pair of sneakers. But I will be honest they are more for fashion than working out. The New Balance 620 has a narrow fit and it is a retro style which is better for walking than high impact aerobics.
I prefer my Saucony runners for any serious workout activities.
Are you working on your fitness this year?
