You guys I bought a pair of Uggs this past week.
I wasn’t really in the market for new winter boots but I had a blister situation that could not be ignored any longer. What do you do when you have blisters on your pinky toes that every single pair of shoes seems to be irritating but because it is Winter you must wear shoes?
The only thing I could think of was buy a pair of Uggs because I know they are nice and wide, very soft and very warm.
Are Uggs still in Style?
One might argue they were extremely trendy and popular back in the mid aughts but were Uggs ever in style? Questionable. At this point they are more like a dirty little secret that most style mavens hide in the backs of their closets. Even Vogue editors have them but it isn’t something they talk about on the regular. Except in this article where they all admit to having multiple pairs.
Because the truth is yes Uggs might not be the most sleek and stylish boot. But many functional winter boots are bulky and awkward looking. But when paired with a big parka and skinny jeans there is something about them that I like. I even pinned images like this for style inspiration.
People continue to buy Uggs because they are comfortable. Especially for those of us with wide feet. No need to pinch our toes into super pointy styles when we can walk around in glorified slippers.
People also continue to buy Uggs because they are warm. The shearling makes them probably one of the warmest boots I have owned making extreme cold a breeze in comparison to wearing pretty much anything else.
The one big drawback when it comes to traditional Ugg boots like the ones I am wearing is that they do not work in wet. Avoid slush or puddles when you are wearing them. Also the salt that gets thrown all over our streets and sidewalks though the winter eats at the boots until they fall apart.
Newer styles like these are the best of both worlds in that they are still sheepskin lined but they can handle the elements better.
The last time I had a pair of Uggs and they fell apart I said I wouldn’t buy another pair. At the time I was living in downtown Toronto and it was at the end of another milder winter which was more slushy that snowy and I just didn’t think they were a good option.
But they were the only shoes that fit my feet through my first preganancy in the Third triemester when my feet were swollen.
And now again Uggs have come to my rescue when I needed something that would allow my feet to heal. And this very cold, super snowy winter are actually a good fit for Uggs because while they can’t handle the slush they do work in the snow.
I guess it is all about having the right boots for the job. Which style of Ugg Austrailia boots are your favourites?

I don't own a pair of Uggs or anything similar to them since they are not practical for where I live. Though I see them everywhere here, mostly worn with shorts. I have seen some Uggs that are really adorable and have been tempted to try them. I think when it's freezing cold, they are fashionable :)

I love UGG boots and I don't really give a toss if they are in trend or not. All my cold weather boots are UGG and just a few months ago I bought a pair of Adirondack boots by UGG and God, they are so comfortable, stylish and super warm! They are water/snow proof too! Great buy, these UGGs!

After wearing these for the past couple weeks I can see why all your winter boots are UGG! I forgot how warm they are. I definitely want to try one o their waterproof styles for next season.
