I saw these culottes in green on Alexandra Stedman many times last year but they were totally sold out when I started to think they would work for my body. My lower half is the hardest to dress for and I am always apprehensive to try to order things online blind when things can go so wrong. Then of course she got the same culottes in Navy for this year and I was like damn I want those pants. I didn’t get the pants because again the ones she had were sold out online. But they did have a similar linen version. These are the linen version and I love them.
Keep in mind that I am not tall. These are an ankle length on me but I am also wearing them at just above my waist. If I wore them lower on my hips they would be closer to full length. Still as a culotte they are definitely cropped.
The things that I like about these linen trousers are the floaty drapey style. It kinda gives a is that a skirt vibe. I like that these pants are cropped because then I can have the flexibility of wearing flats or heels with them. Some of my full length linen pants are a bit too long to wear very flat shoes. There is also an elastic waist which means extra comfort.
I am wearing the 44 in these which is the largest size. It is supposed to be equivalent to a US 12 but I would say they are more generous than that. I think because the style is very voluminous there is loads of room. Still the waist isn’t stretched which is how I prefer pants to fit. I do wish this brand did more sizes though as I feel their quality is great and the target market of who can shop here would be better served with more size range.

What do you think of culottes? Are these a style of trouser you would wear? Especially in summer?

Hi, I think the culottes look great on you. Would you size down in these if you were to purchase them again, since you mentioned that they are quite a generous fit. I’m thinking of buying a pair but cannot decide whether to size down or buy my normal size. Many thanks.

Thank you! I don't think I would size down. I like the way they drape and I would prefer them a bit loose over snug on my hips and stomach. I would say the fit is more relaxed than oversized. They do fit more generously than their tailored trousers in the same size.
