I was watching my twitter feed and saw ShoeMint tweet about a new mid-month release the “Candy”. It is kind of the boot I have been waiting for and the more I looked at it the more I realized I had seen something like it before.
The boot on the left is the Isabel Marant Kate Suede, Leather & Corduroy wedge boots, the one on the right is the ShoeMint Candy boot.
They are both a wedge boot with half leather, half suede. The Isabel Marant Kate boot obviously has a bit more visual interest with the corduroy inset and studs. The leather and suede look a bit more luxurious too.
Still nothing a little DIY wouldn’t fix. I wouldn’t try adding the corduroy but adding some studs along the seam of the more affordable ShoeMint option would be pretty easy!
Either way, as much as I love the Isabel Marant boot, it is unattainable, and really I wouldn’t want to spend that much on one pair of shoes. The ShoeMint one is right up my alley, and at less than $150 totally affordable.
Which is your favourite? Save or Splurge?

I agree with you Jane, ShoeMint has the staying power. I would get those (if I hadn't already blown my budget).

Such great advice! I was also lusting after the Kate Boots but was definitely not going to spend more than $1,000 on them.
I was looking for a great alternative and couldn't find anything until I read your blog and checked out Shoemint.
I bought the Candy Boots right away and can't wait to get them. I actually like them better because they're a little more subdued than the Isabel Marant ones.
Thanks for the tip.

They are pretty great, and yes even when the Kate Boot isn't trendy anymore I think the ShoeMint ones will have some staying power as there is so much less embellishment.
