It is Blazer Season

You can argue that blazers are always in season but they never seem to take center stage the same way they do during the fall.

I was asked by a follower about where to find a great fall blazer, good quality under $200. Blazers can be expensive but there are plenty of options around the $200 mark that would fill these criteria.

When I look for a blazer I want it to be something that looks just as great at the office with trousers as it does with jeans or with a skirt or dress. When it comes to fall I think of more classic colours like grey and navy or rich hues like burgundy or dark green.

The blazers I have in my closet right now are from a few different places. Zara, Asos, JCREW, Mango & Club Monaco basically round out where I have found the options in my closet. I am a a stickler about fabrics, I prefer natural fibers like cotton and wool to purely synthetics.

Below is a round up of blazers that have caught my eye around the web.

1. Red Blazer – Zara FW14 – I love that you can find something classic like this red blazer and something really fun and trendy at the same store. The prices are always right at Zara with many blazers starting at $100. Plus the fact that they ship across Canada for free on orders over $50 AND have free easy returns means I usually just forgo the fitting room all together and try things on in the comfort of my own home.

2. Updated Tweed – Nordstrom – Nordstrom is opening it’s first Canadian location in a matter of days. And they have a new flat rate shipping option which I think is fantastic. I am waiting for FREE SHIPPING promos for Canadians and I am going to snap this blazer right up. ***cue signing up for the Nordstrom email list ***

3. Cropped Navy Blazer – Ann Taylor – This cropped blazer is one that would look equally great with white jeans as it would over a dress or high waisted work trousers. The cropped style would be great for petites.

4. Animal Print 3/4 sleeve Blazer – Ann Taylor – I think everyone should have something animal print. This little jacket would again be fantastic with jeans or that blazer that can liven up basic black work pants.

5. Multi-colour zebra – Zara – This jacket has it all, fun print, texture and great shape. Not a classic blazer style so if you have your basics already this would be a great style to mix things up a bit.

6. Oversized tweed boyfriend – Mango – Mango is become my new favourite store. Prices are reasonable, they ship SUPER fast and the prices include all duties, taxes and shipping (if you spend over $150). There are no longer any stores in Ontario but honestly the stores paled in comparison to the online offerings. This oversized boyfriend coat would look great over a dress for a borrowed from the boys feel or layered over a buttoned up jean jacket.

7. Peplum jacket – JCREW – This jacket is super lady like. Unlike the other styles here which would give a dress a more business like or borrowed from the boys feel, this jacket would keep things looking ultra feminine. It was just what I needed in my closet so I picked it up when it was on sale for under $150.

8. Navy Tipped Blazer – JCREW – If you haven’t started your blazer collection yet or you like to stick with the classics this is a must have. Currently in the sale section with an extra 30% off it is a no brainer.

In addition to the shops listed here Winners (Canada’s TJ MAXX) always has a fantastic selection of blazers. My favourite Winners locations in Toronto are listed HERE.

Back when I was snapping up blazers for casual Fridays I had quite the collection from Club Monaco. I would pick them up on sale for a steal. Currently eying this one.
