I ordered this JCREW shirting dress with the latest release and I couldn’t be more pleased. It is airy and light – perfect for summer.

I am no stranger to a stripe dress but when I saw this one with the recent JCREW launch I knew I would have to try it out. Worst case scenario I drive into Toronto to return it, but the fit is fantastic.

The elastic waist is slightly higher than my normal waist and makes this dress super comfortable and flattering. Tall girls notice where this dress falls on me; just slightly below the knee. Which means if you are tall you can still count on this dress as being a demure knee length option but it would instead be just around or above the knee.

The fabric is like that of a cotton dress shirt hence the name. This makes this dress perfect for the office and for hot summer afternoons.

There is a zipper at the back but I found that I was able to just pull the dress over my head due to the elastic waist. I guess if I were to go down one size and wear it more fitted a zipper would help with getting it on each time. That said I wouldn’t size down due to the fit in the chest.

If I wanted to perhaps give this dress a bit of a different look I would wear it with a belt and a jacket layered over top. I wore this twice this past long weekend. Once out for dinner and once to a baby christening. In both cases I was comfortable but still dressy enough for the occasion.
