I say these are my NEW favourite jeans but it actually feels like a return of an OLD favourite. I haven’t been able to find trouser jeans for a long time. I wore this style of jeans almost exclusively around 2006 through 2010. I jumped on the skinny jean a bit late, mostly because if you were at all curvy the original styles weren’t as flattering. But have you noticed that skinny and straight leg were all that were available the last few years? Judging by the amount of positive reviews for these jeans I am guessing EVERYONE is happy with the return of the trouser jean. This is my JCREW wide leg trouser jeans review.
JCREW Wide Leg Trouser Jeans Review
I ordered the JCREW Wide Leg Trouser Jean in the regular length in both classic rinse (show above) and the black. The length is a 32″ inseam but honestly it seems longer. Usually with a 30 inch inseam I am good with flats, and a 32 I should be good with heels. These trouser jeans were SO LONG. I had to cut off a few inches to make them ok for me to wear with heels.
If you are like me and on the cusp of petite and regular lengths consider petite if you aren’t into taking your trousers to the tailor or doing your own pants hemming.
The fit is on the large side. I went with my regular size and they are generous. The trouser jean fit good in the hip and bum but are larger everywhere else. So depending on how you want your jeans to fit you might want to size down. I am going to stick with my usual size because then I can put them in the dryer and not worry about shrinkage.
The classic rinse trouser jean is a beautiful unwhiskered dark denim which is exactly what I wanted. It is a great true dark blue which will be perfect for the office.
You know how some flare denim are really skinny on the leg to the knee and then flare out? These are not those jeans. These are more straight cut through the leg and more drape along the leg as opposed to hugging the leg.
I am so thrilled that this style of jean popped up at JCREW. It is one that has been missing from my wardrobe for a while and it is like a comfortable old friend coming back after years away.
I mentioned that I have already ordered these in two colours. I would order these in a while for summer too if they release it.
JCREW has been killing it with their denim lately. First with their higher rise toothpick jeans and now with these trouser denim.
