I have been a long time lurker following the British brand Kemi Telford. The skirts and dresses are made of bold wax prints that designer Yvonne Telford was used seeing growing up in Nigeria. There have been many times that I have almost bought a dress and it sold out in my size. Or I was nervous about sizing because this isn’t a chain store that I KNEW my size in. This Kemi Telford Skirt Review will share why I think this brand is worth the hype!
Kemi Telford Skirt Review
Kemi Telford is a brand from South London featuring bold wax print dresses and skirts. The brand does span into separates, pjs and accessories but from following the brand for a while the skirts and dresses are for which they are most known.
The skirt I am wearing above is the Yemi full gathered midi skirt. There are many different styles from midi to maxi dresses, some fuller than others.
What I was most apprehensive about is the one size fits all nature of skirts. They are elastic waist but not all elastic is created equal so I made sure to measure twice before clicking buy.

When I first opened my package I immediately thought this isn’t the skirt I ordered! And then I realized I made a mistake and the skirt was packaged in a super cute tote. So don’t freak out if you don’t recognize the pattern right away. Keep opening!
The second thing I thought once I brought out the skirt is oh no this skirt will never fit me! Obviously I was wrong. Don’t be scared off by how small the waist is when you unpackage things. The elastic has nice stretch and unlike sized skirts that don’t have much expansion this skirt is very much designed to fit a wider ranges of sizes. I would say this skirt could easily fit small to extra large. I had quite a bit of stretch still in the skirt while wearing it, it was not fully expanded.
This skirt comes with a detachable belt. I am not wearing it here but it does create a nice finished look if you don’t like the elastic waist showing. There are belt loops on the skirt so you could wear any belt really to mix things up.
You can tell from the pictures that there are pockets! And not super tiny ones either!
The fabric is really gorgeous. The print alone makes this skirt a show stopper but the weight of the fabric denotes quality as well. It reminds me a bit of this skirt (RIP but look at those old pics from Toronto!) but it is so much better in so many ways.
Honestly I can’t recommend this skirt enough. I am super happy with this purchase.
