Light Blue Coat for Fashion Week

pale blue coat, mohair coat, fashion week street styleYesterday was the first day of World Mastercard Fashion Week in Toronto. Though not officially part of Fashion Month, it follows close on the heels of it and I know many of the local editors make the rounds to everything else and finish off with the local shows.

I knew when I bought this pastel blue mohair coat it would be making an appearance at Fashion Week. Just what to put with it?

Toronto Fashion Week Street style, pastel blue coat, silver loafersI kept things fairly simple pairing the top I scored in the sale section of Anthropologie for $20 with some cropped black pants and my silver loafers. It was VERY cold and St. Patrick’s Day so I wore some green tights as a quirky touch.

I did get a chance to go to the Pandora Gifting suite (one of the perks of being media) and scored this beautiful sterling silver ring. So many fabulous rings from Pandora it was hard to choose!

pale blue coat, cropped black pants, peplum top, fashion week street styleI stayed for two shows last night. I saw Beaufille, who are usually known for their grunge inspired festival type floaty dresses, but last night was very different. There was still a bit of the 90s inspiration, but there was more tailored, structured pieces that I could see someone wearing to the office. Part retro (50’s & 60’s) a bit disco, a bit hip hop, the inspiration for the Beaufille collection was much more varied than in seasons past. While there was alot of black and grey, the collection opened with some gorgeous rust pieces that were among my favorites.

I also saw Line Knitwear. They are usually known for the long duster sweater coats and while there was a bit of this still going on, there were more moto jackets (wool I believe) cropped angora sweaters with matching exaggerated pencils skirts. While I loved the colour the Line designers played with this collection felt a bit more costume-y and less wearable than what they have done in the past. I did like the longer moto jackets though. Totally would wear one of those.

Hi Marielle,

Very aware of Sarah Stevenson, looking forward to her Target collaboration. From what I have seen it will be great! Unfortunately the timing of when Sarah Stevenson has shown her collections I have had to miss her shows. Often the emerging designers show earlier in the day and I can't get to the shows until after 6pm. That and she isn't showing a collection at WMCFW this year.
