The past couple months I have been stocking up and trying out new springy clothing and accessories. I have returned quite a bit too. I feel like I have been a bit more ruthless than ever since I really don’t NEED anything but wanted to refresh. I will also be honest about some of it being more emotional shopping in response to a long winter and my ACL injury. Regardless I feel like I have found some amazing stuff!
I recently did a big Old Navy and Gap purchase and even though I returned everything but two items I feel like it was a success. This yellow polka dot wrap top is a winner. 100% cotton and the wrap has a little snap to keep it shut. The large is pretty generous too. I hate when things fit when you buy them but shrink and are a size smaller after one or two wears. I will say the snap isn’t super strong so you have to watch that it could pop open with too much arm movement. If you aren’t into yellow this style comes in a bunch of different patterns and colours.
The white jeans are from Everlane. The same mid rise skinny I reviewed here. They are a good white jean. I like that there is a high cotton content so there is some heft to them.
The sandals look unassuming but they feel amazing. The leather is so soft. If you have wide feet or a bunion you will have nothing to worry about with these. Honestly thinking about picking up a second colour because these are going to be a work horse shoe this summer. The softness of the leather also makes them feel much more expensive than they are.
This dress might be my favourite dress I picked up. It is from Next. I like Next in that they ship free and duties and taxes are already included in the price. This handkerchief hem dress in leopard is really great. It comes with its own belt but I threw over a Zara belt (current) instead and I love how that turned out. The stretchy jersey is really comfortable and the faux wrap is super flattering. I sized down to a US 10 or UK 14. I find that the UK to US conversions are a bit large in general but it doesn’t always work to size down. I ordered this dress and the reviews on the site are basically the same as what I experienced. The skirt fits fine in the US 10 but the top is just small and ill fitting. Plus it was see through. That dress was RETURNED.
I am really loving this rusty colour for spring summer. Just think of how great it will look with a tan! I sized down in this dress as well as that was also suggested by many of the reviewers. And this dress is ON SALE. I do think the dress was designed for smaller boobs but I think it still works.
The tote is super fun. I love the pattern and that it has longer strap. Not as large as a beach tote but it still screams summer.
I am a sucker for a stripe and this dress is really fantastic. It is an online only dress and it is ON SALE. The wrap is generous enough that you don’t need a camisole which is a huge win in my books. There is also a solid version and a black stripe option that I am considering because this dress fits so well.
I decided I needed to update my jean jacket. I have had one from JCREW factory for years but it wasn’t doing it for me anymore. I love this light wash and more fitted option. I am thinking I need it in cropped white too.
I like that this dress has 3/4 sleeves. I might not love it so much in the middle of summer but actually I probably will because you know air conditioning.
I also updated my sneakers. The ones I am wearing are so cushy. They are going to be great for just wandering and having cute sneakers. I am wearing these no see socks which are great for sneakers not so great for loafers.
I bought this dress as a beach cover up. It is a cheap and cheerful type option. I don’t love the fabric but it is one of those just throw over a bathing suit option. It is very boho.
Last item of the spring try on haul is this pom pom stripe top. I did not size down in this top so I got a large or size US 12. It is pretty generous but not too big. I did a bit of a half tuck but if I was wearing it with slimmer denim I would be ok with leaving it untucked with a jacket layered over. I love the pom pom detail.
I also picked up these shorts and these sneakers. I sent back this dress. It was just such a bad fit and the soft pink was more of a peach in real life. I also sent back this dress and this dress. They were just not that cute on me.
If you are thinking about picking some things up these are some sales that are going on this weekend.
Boden has 20% off. I am thinking about this dress and this swimsuit. I also love their kids stuff.
Asos has 20% off – loving this dress.
Soludos has 50% off certain styles. Love this style, it was my most worn shoe last summer.

IF you are looking for more unusual items I would shop boutiques as the big chains tend to be the same. That said the stores are just starting to get some really good spring stuff coming out. Plus shopping at Target is always fun. I wish we still had it here.
