Ever since I have worn out (over worn?) my spring Military style jacket wondered if I should pick up a lined version for winter. I have gone back and forth because I wasn’t sure if this was too trendy of a style, or too young. After a bunch of pins on super stylish ladies I have decided it is a style that totally transcends age appropriateness.
I have noticed that the term parka tends to describe a different jacket on every website. The only similar features are that they are winter lined and have a hood. There are styles that are more suited to the ski slopes (or here) and deep cold (here or here). Honestly these styles don’t really do it for me.
I dig the OTHER parka definition. Military inspired, sometimes sherpa lined, a bit slouchy and oversized. I included one that doesn’t fit either definition, but the plaid All Saints version is just so unique.

What do you wear when the temperature drops? Do you throw fashion out the window and bundle up in something resembling the Michelin Man or do you layer up in something a bit more style forward?
