MZ Wallace Nik Bag Review

When I started planning our trips for this year I knew I had to get more luggage. The plan was to fly carry on only but in the past when we flew carry on we used our kids luggage. It also meant that we needed enough personal items for four. Something with lots of pockets and a trolley sleeve was important to me. I also wanted something that looked great while still being practical. This MZ Wallace Nik Bag Review will share why this bag ticks all those boxes.

MZ Wallace Nik Bag Review

When I started looking for a new personal item I first started looking at Lug but unfortunately the styles I really liked form the past were no longer available. What I liked about that brand was all the pockets. MZ Wallace was also on my radar but the most popular tote style wasn’t really my jam. I didn’t want a bag that was just a big black hole. I have a knock off version and it was hard to stay organized! I also wanted something more elongated like a weekender than just a giant tote. This will more easily fit under the airplane seat. I am very much someone who believes the personal items should be stored under the seat and not taking away from valuable overhead carriage space.

When I started taking MZ Wallace options seriously I oscillated between the Jim and the Nik styles. But I landed on the Nik because of the pockets.

This bag has seven external pockets. There are two large zip pockets on the front plus one narrow deep pocket on the front. Two pockets on each side. There is one large pocket at the back that unzips at the bottom to convert into a trolley sleeve. There is also another deep narrow pocket on the back side.

Lets talk about the trolley sleeve. It is a wide strap not thin. We have had other personal item bags with just a narrow trolley sleeve strap and they tend to fail or just not be sturdy enough. I much prefer this wide one. There is also a snap that fastens between the arm poles which further keeps the bag in place. I also love that this is convertible which means that when you are using this bag as a weekender bag you have another pocket.

The front zip pockets on this bag were the perfect size for my ereader. The side pockets I only seemed to use in an emergency or for water bottles.

My favourite pockets however were the narrow deep pockets that are on either side of the main compartment zipper. They were the perfect size and perfect access for my phone and the passports. I would recommend this bag to any traveler because of these pockets alone.

The inside has more pockets including an area for your laptop. I had plenty of room inside to pack an extra pair of sandals, my clear toiletry case, my crossbody purse and a sweater. Plus all the printed documents to keep track of all our bookings. While the bag was full it wasn’t uncomfortably so.

I had no problem with this bag fitting under the seats. Nor did it get flagged by the Easy jet staff to get measured. I was really impressed as it fit so well and I had lots of leftover leg room. Plus it looks good. I mean it isn’t a cheap bag so you expect it to look chic but I would say this bag really met my expectations and then some. I like the leather trim, the long padded handles, the cross body strap. Plus all the pockets! I am really happy with my choice.
