One no fail way to style a navy coat is to add red. The combination just pops. Your outfit underneath could be super basic and boring and the red and navy combo looks fantastic. This is why I love winter dressing so much is that you can really play with layers and accessories. And in this case colour combinations. A navy and red outfit is not complicated but always looks great.
Navy and Red Outfit
The basis of this outfit is the navy coat. I reviewed this coat here if you want details on fit and whatnot. Navy is more flattering for more people than black. It is just easier against skin tones. I find it also has a more preppy feel to it as opposed to black.
Underneath I have an old red cashmere sweater. Nordstrom still has this sweater but not in this red. This seems similar though.
The jeans are the viral M&S Carrot jean. I like the shape of the leg and the cropped cut. They look great with boots. But the sizes are limited because they keep selling out! Get your size while you can is what I am saying. I am wearing the lighter wash, which isn’t something I usually wear though the colder months but I think this works. It is a nice contrast with the navy coat.
The red accessories are all old. The hat I believe you can still get. I like that the cable knit is going around your head which is the opposite of what you usually see.
The scarf is old but this is the perfect time of year to find a red scarf (try here, here or here). My bag you can get something similar here or here.
Overall it isn’t a complicated outfit. The coat is pretty basic really. And yet the combination of these two colours produces something bold.
What do you think of this Navy and Red outfit? Is this something you would wear?
