I just read a list of all the things you shouldn’t wear to an office Christmas party. This outfit would have been on their list because they banned all things Holiday colours.
Personally aside from staying away from too short skirts and too low tops their list was totally lame. I say embrace the season and wear what feels festive.
Not all Holiday parties are evening affairs. At one office I worked at after the financial crisis in 2008 had a Christmas lunch for the corporate departments. No spouses just a daytime event that you went straight from your desk. This means wearing something that feels festive but is at the same time office appropriate.
The forest green trousers paired with anything plaid or red will instantly feel Christmasy. I could have gone with heels but the loafers work because the metallic silver still feels festive. Layering over the white coat finishes off the red, green, white Christmas colour trifecta.
Outfit details: Plaid shirt Old Navy (under $25!), forest green trousers JCREW Factory, loafers JCREW (old but here is a gold version), Hat Joe Fresh, Scarf ASOS, sunglasses Prada.
