I can’t take credit for this idea. Catherine of Not Dressed as Lamb did a similar post a while back and I thought it was a fantastic idea. Anyone who has been blogging as long as I have has loads of old content. Some of my old outfits are cringe worthy. I was much more quick to try a trend. Everything from floral blazers and wedge sneakers were on this blog circa 2012/2013.
Now I am reverting back to the classics because they have so much more longevity in my wardrobe. But I did find some outfits from those old posts of outfits that I still want to wear now or those that I do still wear often.
The posts I chose are all quite old. I didn’t choose anything from the past 4 years so these are all 2013 or older. I was in my early 30s in these posts and my kids were babies/toddlers. Oh how the times change.
Ok back when I did this post printed pants were all the rage. I wanted to put together something that was office friendly and not mixing prints. I still have the vest and pants and really I love this outfit. I am not a huge fan of these boots but I have other black boots that would work too. Somehow I lost the black turtleneck in the move from Toronto to Kitchener and this outfit makes me want to replace it asap.
If I am going to be honest I wear a version of this outfit all the time. I still have everything in this outfit even though it all fits me more snug than it did in this photo. I have also decided that I really want to wear flares more often this year. They are so flattering and I wish there were more great flare jeans to buy as much as there are skinny jeans!
I still wear this dress all the time to work in the summer. It was a Target find when Target was still in Canada. I love the bag and I still have it too and I regularly bring it out for travel. The shoes I was gifted and I gave them away a few years ago. The strap around the ankle wasn’t my favourite even though the shoes were very comfortable. This outfit reminds me that you can find really great items in unexpected places as long as you stick with natural fibers. The bag reminds me that Etsy can be a goldmine for fun style finds from around the world.
This outfit is one of those that isn’t overly complicated but I want to recreate asap. I still have everything except the blouse which basically fell apart because I wore it so much. I really like the heels but when it is hot and humid I feel like they are constricting for swelling feet.
If I have learned anything from my time blogging it is try things. This stripe coat is one of my all time favourite purchases that I would probably never have even looked twice at if I wasn’t blogging and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. Same with the silver loafers which are crazy comfortable.
There are many more outfits that I wouldn’t ever recreate. Clothes that have long since been donated, changing tastes and going back to work have all impacted how I dress today compared to back then.
Which outfit would you recreate?
