It is easy to get overwhelmed by all the accessories and kids clothing at the One of a Kind Show. But there are some really fantastic fashion designers at the OOAK too. Some are using old clothing to recycle them into new clothing, but I find that most of these designs while ecofriendly are not necessarily fasionista friendly like Toronto’s Preloved.
One Toronto designer that was at the show that I could totally see myself wearing her designs was Karamea. She had dressed her models up with the head on Angelina Jolie which I totally missed at first because I was looking at the dresses.
What I loved about this line was that for me it was the most wearable of all the designs I saw. It wasn’t geared to hippy chicks or too costumey. Instead it was a collection of day dresses that would work at the office or an afternoon wedding.
In fact some of the designs if accessorized right are just as easily date worthy or could be worn out for drinks. I loved the fantastic use of pattern and the details that made these dresses special.
You can find Karamena dresses at Model Citizen, 290 Ion (in Corktown on Queen East) and Pho Pa.
