In light of everything that has happened in Paris on Friday posting a sequin midi skirt feels frivolous. I have thought about the poor people that were caught up in violence they didn’t seek out. They were expecting a dinner with friends and loved ones and instead they became innocent victims.
In this age I just don’t understand the violence. There are many things around the world that people need to stand up for and speak out. Women who still can’t vote. Workers who are forced to work in unsafe conditions. I think that in North America we often forget that we once stood up for these things we now take for granted.
However terrorism is never a solution. Innocents should not be targets of whatever your message is. The message gets lost in the barrage of bullets and bombs.
I am praying for Paris. Praying for the world. Praying for love and understanding.
At the same time I think in these darkest moments we need to find something lighthearted to bring us all out of a negative head space. And in this way finding inspiration in a pretty Holiday look seems to have more meaning. So I keep posting outfits hoping to bring some light to the dark.
I picked up this sequin midi skirt last year from Miss Selfridge. It is a showstopper! While I haven’t found many exact options (this is close) this year I do love these gold options from Topshop and JCREW. Pair some Christmas plaid and you have a truly festive look.
Outfit details: Green Plaid shirt Old Navy, faux fur snood Joe Fresh (similar), sequin midi skirt (old, see options below), red heels Nine West, silver clutch ELA, sunglasses Karen Walker
