A v neck version of one of Sezane’s most popular sweaters. The soft knit is warmer than I thought it would be making it more useful that a typical light cardigan. Sharing why I think this cardigan is so popular that Sezane brings it back again and again. This is my Sezane Barry Cardigan Review.
Sezane Barry Cardigan Review
The Sezane Barry Cardigan is a soft rib knit sweater made of a blend of alpaca and mohair. The weight of the knit feels similar to a classic cashmere sweater. It is a thin knit but packs a big punch in the warmth factor. In fact I wore this sweater to a house party thinking it wouldn’t be too warm but I was so wrong.
The buttons are tone on tone. This is true of all the sweaters. The green Barry has green buttons and so on.
Size wise I took a large. I didn’t want this sweater to fit slouchy and oversized so I made sure to take my “smaller” Sezane size. Even still you can see the neckline is quite open and the v open is pretty low. I layered a camisole underneath so that I didn’t have to worry about the neckline being too open and deep.
I don’t find there is any pulling of the buttons at the bust so I would say that this cardigan is true to size.
One of the big pulls of this sweater and the sister sweater is that you can wear them multiple ways. You can wear them open, with the buttons at the front as I have or with the buttons at the back. One thing I would say is that if you are going to wear the sweater with the buttons at the back is to cut out the tag as I think it would be annoying if you were to have that showing at the front. Sezane does make that easy to do as the tag isn’t fully sewn down just lightly tacked in.
I was pleasantly surprised by this sweater and I think I get now why they are so popular. It is a great basic sweater that because it is a thin knit is easy to layer without feeling too bulk. The buttons make the sweater feel very feminine. This sweater was way warmer than I was expecting also. The one drawback for me is the open neckline as it isn’t something I naturally gravitate towards.
What do you think of the Sezane Barry cardigan? It this a sweater you were looking at?
